Live demonstration of Layer Picker at ProMat 2009

At the ProMAT show in Chicago on January 12-15, Univeyor will demonstrate a full-scale Layer Picker in action, automatically palletizing and depalletizing at a speed that will revolutionize the flow in most warehouses and distribution centers.

"This year we have chosen to present our Layer Picker at ProMAT, giving the visitors the chance of seeing the machine in operation. This will not be a model, but the exact same machine that is already operating in distribution centers in both Europe and the US”, says Marketing Manager Kaj Christensen.

Full automation with high capacity
Using the Layer Picker, the picking of all known pallet types is fully automated. The Layer Picker is capable of handling an entire layer in one step, without requiring an operator’s attention. The Layer Picker does the heavy work, and palletizing and depalletizing are energized. The machine handles items of various sizes, weights and shapes, operating in temperatures ranging from ÷27°C to +40°C.

Efficient and versatile
”We look forward to showing the visitors at the show how efficient and versatile the Layer Picker actually is. Only very few products cannot be handled by the Layer Picker – in fact, we have up till now demonstrated that the Layer Picker handles more than 95% of articles in supermarkets and stores,” says Kaj Christensen. Univeyor has enhanced the suction sole, meaning that the Layer Picker now handles even more types of layers. Due to the patent-pending technology, the suction sole can even handle layers with voids.

Picking up profit and improving working environment
”I am convinced that the visitors will see a great potential in the Layer Picker, having seen it in action. Using the Layer Picker, many time-consuming, manual processes are eliminated – processes that traditionally induce heavy lifting and repetitive strain. The speed can be accelerated without affecting neither the safety nor the physical working environment. This makes the Layer Picker both a profitable investment and an investment in improved working environment.”

Also focus on Empticon
At the ProMAT show in January 2009, Univeyor will also focus on the Empticon, which is, like the Layer Picker, a heavyweight within the area of making the flow of articles more efficient and improving the working environment. ”Using an Empticon, one man can unload a container full of cartons – without having to make as much as one lift himself. Via a wireless control desk, the operator can unload more than 600 cartons per hour. This puts an end to all the heavy and harmful lifts that have up to now characterized the work of unloading containers and trailers”.
